This mutated 8-bit sound effect sample pack has a wide variety of sound types, like weapon shots, enemy hits, damage, kills, growls, jumps, doors, explosions, and...tongues.

Each sound effect is provided with several closely related variations, giving you alternate sounds that keep the same character and function. All sounds are created from scratch using original synthesis and sound design techniques, capturing the character of the original hardware without sampling or copying any game audio.

Unique to some of these sound effects, the original hardware used a type of hardware acceleration to throttle the sound engine. The result was a kind of low growling sound, which was used for vocal elements such as minibosses screaming in pain, or for organic movements like giant frog tongues. Many other tonal and noise alteration techniques were used to create the other diverse sound effects included with this pack.
