Overworld: Notes is a collection of NES-style 8-bit sample instruments inspired by the music of The Legend of Zelda. This pack captures the distinctive instrument sounds associated with its overworld exploration and dungeon themes, from bold, heroic lead tones to more restrained, atmospheric sounds used for labyrinth-style music. The instruments in this pack feature iconic square leads and stab sounds, supportive bass tones, and simple drum samples for basic rhythmic backing.

Many of the lead instruments and the bass in this pack include vibrato baked directly into the samples. This vibrato is created by subtly shifting pitch in rapid microsteps, an effect that becomes more noticeable in higher notes where each microstep represents a larger pitch interval.
All lead and stab instruments in this pack use the standard square wave rather than alternate pulse widths, reflecting the simple, direct tonal character associated with the original soundtrack. The pack also includes two lead instruments designed to emulate flute-like tones, along with a double-pulsed lead that layers square waves to create a subtle chorus-style effect.
