Two brothers. Two plumbers. One mission: collect every coin, stomp every creature, and consume an alarming number of mushrooms on the way to rescuing a princess from an oversized, spiky-shelled turtle with questionable bridge-design skills.

Magic Mushrooms: Notes is a free collection of NES-style 8-bit sample instruments inspired by the music of Super Mario Bros. This pack captures the sounds of the instantly recognizable musical styles associated with its classic stages, from bright, staccato overworld melodies to darker underground themes, flowing underwater tones, and fast-moving castle patterns.

The pack includes staccato leads and bass instruments, octave-interval stab sounds, simple synth blips, and short noise-based drum samples suited for swinging, rhythmic 8-bit compositions.

With the exception of the castle bass instrument, the music that inspired this pack relies almost entirely on short, articulated stab sounds rather than sustained notes, a characteristic reflected in the instruments included in this pack. In the same way, the drum sounds are all very short noise-based samples, with the exception of the distinctive descending “dying” tom sounds.
