Planet Brain: Notes is a collection of NES-style 8-bit sample instruments inspired by the music of Metroid. This pack captures the game’s iconic blend of exploration and tension, drawing on the contrasting instrument sounds associated with classic areas such as Brinstar’s driving, adventurous textures and Norfair’s darker, bubbling atmosphere. It also includes sounds inspired by the dark, mysterious march of Kraid’s Lair, the uneasy repetition found in Ridley’s Lair, the eerie isolation of the Item Room, the cold, brooding tone of Tourian, and the urgent pulse of the Escape sequence.

More Sound Info
The instruments in this collection make use of all of the wave types and pulse widths available on the original hardware. In addition to the familiar triangle wave bass, the pack also includes a triangle-based stab instrument with an extremely short note duration, commonly used in the original soundtrack as a form of melodic percussion. Several other stab instruments feature samples that retrigger at a lower volume, creating an effect similar to a simple built-in delay.
