Magic Mushrooms 2: Notes is a collection of NES-style 8-bit sample instruments inspired by the music of Super Mario Bros. 2, reflecting the distinct melodic and rhythmic character that sets the game apart from the others in the series. This pack focuses on the playful sound palette of its stages, featuring bright, percussive lead instruments suited for upbeat overworld themes, desert-like underground melodies, and tense boss encounters. A selection of 8-bit drum sounds is also included, supporting both light, bouncy grooves and driving rhythmic patterns.

One of the most distinctive instruments in this pack combines two slightly detuned, octave-separated pulse waves to create a character reminiscent of an old-time player piano. Many of the other instruments feature pronounced attack transients followed by much quieter sustains, producing the impression of a long, decaying delay. Most of the drum samples are short noise-based sounds, with the exception of the bongo samples, which are processed acoustic recordings.
